If the bacteria are eating the muck, then why aren't they self sustaining as long as they have a food source? Why do they only last 2.5 months?

Dunoo... I bought a jug of those tablets (not Free) Didn't work.. At all. Despite Repeated attempts.

Ponds already have beneficial bacteria in them and if they don't it's because they have nothing to feed on. Adding more will accomplish nothing except drain your wallet.

Does this work w pine needles once they sink? I do have a fountain and my pond is spring fed. So always motion. Single parent whose kids are grown and having kids and so it’s just me . I do have a “make shift rake” but I have ms and just am not strong enough to bring it to the edge.

thinking of building a 400g pond in my yard it gets cold in winter prolly 30f at lowest at times i seen a 1500w heater for around 25$ wonder if 1500w would be ok for a size like that not sure what fish will be in it yet but sourcing the info first

So the layer needs to be an inch and a half thick and you need to hire giant construction equipment. That's pretty depressing.

As long as the pond remains filled up I can see this working. But how does it work when the pond would dry up and refill? Would the bentonite crack under the contraction during drying, leaving you with un unsealed pond once more?

If bacteria increase in number by reproducing naturally, why do you sell different sizes? Shouldn't one small size grow to the required number on its own, no matter how large your pond is?

nothing natural about polymer. Is it cheaper than bentonite clay? does it absorb toxins like clay? or does it release them like other polymers that breakdown over time?

1500 W heater versus a 50 to 80 watt aerator . Plus I like the circulation and the gas exchange of the aerator as a bonus. Shallow Pond probably being the exception just ordered a hiblow 60 today for $229

Please someone help me. I used 18 tons of bentonite lining my pond. I filled up my pond & it’s leaking. Can someone help me. I’ve tried some of those polymers that claim to seal a ponds, & it didn’t work. What else can I do?

My whole yard is Red clay as soon as you dig up the grass....(I live in East Tennessee)... I really want to make a small pond with just the red clay and river rocks? Is it plausible? I don't want to use any kind of liner if possible

To build an anaerobic denitrifying Layer do I need to have at least 30 inches of substrate over the top of the bentonite ❓ i'm building a well fed pond, quarter acre, i'm concerned with keeping the nitrate levels as low as possible. I sure could use some advice. I've been keeping fish and aquariums for 25 years but now I want to take it outside, and build a natural bluegill/bass environment . Obviously the more substrate over top of the Clay Will perform better, and keep nitrate levels lower with a larger bio load. I have many unanswered questions regarding my theories. Water quality is the most important Factor in determining my build design. Your input would be greatly appreciated 😎
